What is the first thing you drink the morning? Coffee, water, tea, soda….

I’m obsessed with drinking lemon water first thing in the morning. I started it years ago during one of my detoxes and the habit stuck.

This week I’m in Columbus for the awards ceremony for the Pedometer Challenge. Our Wellness at Work group stepped over 75 million steps over 8 weeks. Since we exceed our companywide goal of 58 million steps, ms consultants is donating $10,000 toward local diabetes chapters. Our group is amazing.

I usually travel with a couple lemons but figured I’d scoop some up once I got in town. I was super bummed when Whole Foods was out! Thankfully, they had restocked by this morning and I just enjoyed my morning elixir.

What’s so special out lemon water?

Lemon water helps get the pipes moving and does miracles on a food hangover. If you wake up feeling tired, sluggish or bloated you have to try it out.

Lemons are packed with vitamin C, promote a healthy immune system, and acts as a blood purifier. The typical American diet is filled with acidic foods (coffee, soda, sugar, meat, etc.) so give yourself a little pH boost this easy drink.

Drinking lemon water helps flush out unwanted junk in your gut and stimulates the liver which aids with detoxification. It’s the first thing you will drink during the 14-Day Mind Body Detox and I think you’ll quickly become addicted to this healthy morning ritual. Lemon Water

  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • 1-2 cup filtered water (room temp)
  • Pinch of sea salt – optional
