mintsmoothie

Hi Beautiful Friends,

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner – will you be wearing green and eating green colored foods?

Not too long ago when I was living in Chicago I would have indulged in a few green beers. I have to thank those green beers because it was 5 years ago, one fateful St. Patrick’s Day, that I met my husband at an lrish pub.

These days I have switched my green beer for green smoothies. My friend Amy loves Shamrock Shake’s and in honor of her I decided to create an alternative to McDonald’s Shamrock Shake. This smoothie is a lighter alternative you can eat for breakfast. It contains real mint unlike McDonald’s version which is uses artificial flavoring and coloring for it’s minty taste and it’s filled with sugar and high fructose corn syrup which isn’t great for you gut or waistline. (sorry Amy!)

Mint Green Smoothie

Serves 1

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/4-1/2 cup mint leaves
  • 1-2 cup spinach
  • 1 scoop vanilla RAW Powder Protein Powder
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1/2 frozen banana or 1 packet of stevia
  • Blend all ingredients in Blender.

Option: I tired chocolate protein powder as well which was yummy. Instead of protein powder you can do 1 tsp vanilla and 2 TB hemp seeds)

Have you given a recipe a healthy makeover or do you have a favorite green smoothie recipe? If so, share it with the group in the comments section on the blog.

Wishing you a pot of gold under the rainbow,

    Jackie

PS. When we met I was 20 pounds heavier – so for you women out there waiting till you lose weight to date – stop it. Get out there and enjoy yourself. Next week I’m excited to share the simple reframe in thinking that will help you feel lighter, more vibrant and help you lose weight without feeling deprived.
