Are you excited about the solar eclipse on August 21?!
My sister started talking about it months ago since she’s convinced I’ll go into labor that day. It’s the first total solar eclipse in 99 years and will stretch across a 70-mile band from Oregon to South Carolina. Even if you’re not in the 70-mile stretch, you’ll still be able to see a partial eclipse.
The eclipse will last about 3 hours here in Atlanta with the sun being blocked by the moon around 2:36 pm making it dark mid-day.
As you know from past posts, I love the moon. I wear a necklace with the moon and sun and have given you tools to hop on the moon’s energy when you’re desiring change in your life.
Even if following the moon’s energy is too woo-woo for you, the 28-day cycle provides the container for a start and end date. You get to reflect on what you want to let go of and what you want to manifest during this period so you can take action.
Monday, you’ve got a free ticket to unplug and take in the beauty and awe our universe has to offer. And an opportunity to accelerate growth in your life with the energy of this new moon eclipse.
It’s a massive reset button.
A new moon can help you tap into your intuition (your body’s wisdom). Get quiet and listen. Avoid overthinking (super hard since that’s how most of us are programmed).
Start with movement – walking, yoga or dancing to bring you back into your body and out of your head.
Then decide what area of your life you want to reset – your eating habits, physical health, well-being, thought patterns, environment, relationships, projects, or even career.
From there you can focus time and energy on improving that area this month.
You must get clear on what you want. Generalities won’t work. I often hear clients say; “I want to eat healthier.” Okay, what does that mean for you?
And if you’re having trouble pinpointing what you want, start with what you don’t want. But you must flip the don’t want around into a positive statement.
Before: “I don’t want to feel tired all the time.”
After: “I want to have the energy to play with my kids.”
From there you can explore what is zapping your energy – the foods you’re eating, lack of movement, overextending yourself, worry, perfectionism, or weak boundaries.
Finally, pick ONE way to increase your energy and test it out until the next new moon.
Working with the energy example: This month I’m going to be more aware of when I’m worrying and will stop the cycle by moving my body with 2-5 minutes to get out my head and repeat the mantra, “I am surrounded by everything I need.”
So much juiciness in this post. If you’ve never worked with mantras or keep relying on willpower, just TRY out this alternative way of approaching change and let me know how it goes.
