Today is the Fall Equinox, the first day of a new season, so you can start fresh.
I’m excited to share the practice I do each season that helps me reflect on where I am and where I want to be so that I can prioritize what’s important to me and you can too!
There will be equal daylight as there is darkness today, which we can use as a reminder to seek balance in our lives.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, resentful, anxious, tired, unhappy, heavy or keep getting sick – odds are you’re off balance.
The transition from summer to fall can stir up restless energy that needs grounding. Your mind and body are adjusting just like the weather. One day it’s hot then the next it’s breezy.
To settle the unsettled energy and to make sure that your fall season includes what you want to do, experience and feel you have to plan.
I understand the resistance to planning and structure. I used to too. I felt like I had enough scheduling with meetings, kid logistics, family events and other adult responsibilities.
Then I realized I was going through my days on auto-pilot, checking things off my to-do list without questioning if they we’re aligned with my priorities. The busy-ness clouded my desire to take care of myself so that I could be the best version of me. I was off balance.
The first step to getting back to balance is clarity.
When you get clear on what you want your fall to look and feel like, it’s easier to incorporate daily habits like adding more vegetables into your day, committing to your meditation practice, carving out time QT to spend with your spouse, or making time to spend working on your business (or hobbies).
Here’s the practice!
Carve our 30-60 minutes to reflect on these 4 categories. You can break the categories down and do one each day – that’s what I do!
Make it fun, light a candle and play some music.
- Body (health, movement and/or your relationship to)
- Work (career/hobbies/business)
Rank each category 1-5 (5 being the best) and where do you want to be? Give yourself the time to feel into the best version of you.
Then pick ONE category you want to focus on and choose ONE thing you are going to do to improve that category this season so it’s closer to how you want it to look and feel.
As you strength one category there will be a ripple effect in the others. It might surprise you how working on your spirituality will help you eat healthier and by eating healthier your more productive at work or kinder to your spouse.
